Child Safety Standards
Adults only, verified
PlayDate is only for adults 21 and over. Before anyone can see other members, match or send a message, they must pass an identity check with a government ID and a live selfie. Anyone whose ID shows they're under 21 is refused. If we learn a minor has an account, we delete it immediately.
What is prohibited
Our Terms of Service prohibit, without exception:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, animated or AI-generated depictions
- sexualizing, grooming, or soliciting anyone under 18
- any content, messages or behavior that endangers children
- using cosplay, characters or "they're older than they look" claims to present minors sexually
How to report
- In the app: tap ••• on a profile or in a chat, choose Report, and pick "Looks under 21" or the most relevant reason. Reporting also blocks the person.
- By email: support@joinplaydate.app with the subject "Child safety report".
- Directly to the authorities: the NCMEC CyberTipline or local law enforcement. In an emergency, call 911.
How we respond
- Every report is reviewed by a person. Reports involving possible harm to a child are reviewed first.
- We remove the content and ban the account. Bans also block the same email and ID from signing up again.
- We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as required by US law, and cooperate with law enforcement.
- We keep the relevant records for investigations as the law requires.
Compliance
PlayDate complies with applicable child safety laws, including US federal reporting obligations (18 U.S.C. § 2258A).
