Terms of Service

Effective date: March 21, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Tamase Financial ("PlayDate", "we", "us") about using the PlayDate app and joinplaydate.app. By creating an account, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use PlayDate.

1. Who can use PlayDate

To use PlayDate, you must:

• be at least 21 years old
• live in the United States
• be able to form a binding contract
• not be required to register as a sex offender, and not have been convicted of a violent or sexual crime
• not have been banned from PlayDate before
• have only one PlayDate account

2. Identity verification

Before you can match or message, you must verify your identity with a government ID and a live selfie through Stripe Identity. The date of birth on your ID becomes your PlayDate birthday. If you can't verify, or your ID shows you're under 21, you can't use PlayDate's matching features.

Verification confirms that you're a real person and how old you are. It is not a background check, and it doesn't tell you anything else about the people you meet.

3. Your account

• Give accurate information, and keep it up to date.
• Your photos must show you. Cosplay photos are welcome, but at least one photo should clearly show your face so matches can recognize you.
• Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
• Tell us right away at support@joinplaydate.app if you think someone else is using it.

4. Community rules

PlayDate is for fans to meet each other with respect. You must not:

• harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, on or off the app
• post hate speech, or attack people for their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation
• post nudity, sexual content or violent content in your photos or profile
• send sexual messages or images to someone who hasn't clearly asked for them
• involve, show or discuss anyone under 18 in a sexual way, ever (see our child safety standards)
• pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's photos
• scam people, ask for money, or sell or promote anything
• spam, or use bots or automated tools
• share other users' private information or screenshots of their messages publicly
• use PlayDate for anything illegal
• try to get around a block, ban or our security

Cosplay is part of the fun, but "it's my character" doesn't excuse breaking these rules.

5. Your content

You own the photos, text and messages you post. By posting them, you give PlayDate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and deliver them, only to run the app. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for safety as described in the Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for your content, and you must have the right to post it. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

6. Meeting people safely

PlayDate verifies identity and age, but we don't screen users' criminal history and can't guarantee how anyone will behave. You're responsible for your own safety when talking to or meeting other people.

• Meet in a public place for the first few dates. A busy con floor counts.
• Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
• Never send money or financial details to someone you've met on PlayDate.
• Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

7. Reports, removal and bans

Anyone can report a profile or conversation. A person reviews every report. If you break these terms, we may remove content, end matches, suspend or delete your account, and ban you. A ban stops you creating a new account with the same email or the same ID, as explained in the Privacy Policy. If you think we've made a mistake, email support@joinplaydate.app.

8. Ticket links and other services

PlayDate shows links to convention websites and ticket sellers. Some may be affiliate links that earn PlayDate a commission. We don't sell tickets, and we're not responsible for those websites, their tickets, prices, refunds or events. Your purchase is between you and the seller.

9. Cost

PlayDate is currently free. If we add paid features, we'll show the price and terms clearly before you pay, and you'll never be charged without agreeing first.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account, or by request. We may close accounts that break these terms, or that haven't been used for 2 years, as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 5 (for kept safety copies), 11, 12, 13 and 14 continue after your account ends.

11. Disclaimers

PlayDate is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise you'll find a match, that the app will always work without interruption, or that other users are who they say they are beyond what ID verification confirms. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, PlayDate isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or punitive damages, or for the conduct of any user, on or off the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

13. Your responsibility to us

If someone brings a claim against PlayDate because of your content or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

14. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and applicable US law. Before filing any claim, please email support@joinplaydate.app so we can try to resolve it informally within 60 days.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using PlayDate after that, you accept the new terms.
